Fatma Karapinar

Associate professor

Dr Fatma Karapinar studied pharmacy at Utrecht University and did her PhD in the OLVG hospital in Amsterdam on medication errors around hospital discharge and transitional care to prevent them. She works as a hospital pharmacist, epidemiologist and Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Toxicology at Maastricht University Medical Center. 

In addition she is actively involved in the Scientific Association of Pharmacists, in the European Association for Hospital Pharmacy (EAHP) as scientific committee member, in the Pharmaceutical Care Research in Daily Practice (PRISMA) as board member and two national programmes set up by the Ministry of Health on 1) transfer of medication related information and 2) avoiding preventable harm (expert elderly patients). Furthermore, she is the chair for postgraduate education for Dutch Pharmacist who are Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacists (US certification programme).
